The Social Networking Debate and A Scheduling Note

No Cooking Tonight

We'll be making Matzoh Ball Soup for Rosh Hashanah next week!

I worked late tonight, came home, turned on the tube and headed right to the DVR to watch the Debate. I got it up and running and then launched Twitter. It was abuzz with debate chatter. I wish I were a sociologist or a political scholar or a statistician or a woman with ESP, because I’d like to analyze the Tweets. It seems to me that the overwhelming majority of tweets were in favor or Obama.

I’m Tired

I don’t know if it’s the trip to Vegas this weekend or if I am battling the Ebola virus that is going around, but I’m tired — pooped — exhausted — I need to get to bed and sleep it off. That said, I need to mention that Tenten is on his way to DC in 10 days and we plan to meet. He says he will not get on camera, which is a shame since viewers are curious. I’ll see what I can do. I am a pretty darn good saleswoman! 🙂

I will leave you with a gallery of shots of the DEElicious dinner we made tonight.

Retractions and Distractions and Contests

Retractions

Swedish Meatballs, Egg Noodles and Tomato Salad

I said I’d published the last post about the trip to Vegas, but I’ve got something über important to share with you! Check this out — The JTV Monkey went along on our trip! Krystyl put together a great post about our travels with the JTV Monkey. Does anyone remember what his name is?

Setting Expectations

BlogWorld Expo ’08

The best meal I had in Vegas was at a surprising place -- the Flamingo Hotel Coffee Shop for brunch -- and I'm not talking about one of those über tourist buffets it was a menu-ordered brunch

I tend to do daydream — big — especially when I am seated in a plane and in airports for hours Unless I am hunkered down in a negative frame of mind, I daydream and imagine big things, things that make me smile. Things that inspire me and make me plug away.

Cheering for Runner Up Status! and a BlogWorld Expo ’08 Party

It’s All Good
I'm not sure how much of a Welcome to Vegas this guy is, but he was waiting for me in the airport this afternoon!

I'm not sure how much of a Welcome to Vegas this guy is, but he was waiting for me in the airport when I arrived this evening 🙂

I arrived at the airport this morning to see a couple of Tweets letting me know that the finalists for the Whole Foods Budget Recipe Challenge had been selected. I was very excited and thought I’d check my mailbox first because the contest registration documentation stated that finalists would be notified mid-September. Logic told me that if an announcement was posted that the finalists were selected that probably meant mail was probably waiting in their boxes.

Where Does the Time Go?

Time

How often have you noted that time passes quickly, yet you look back on that period of time and it suddenly seems as though it’s been an eternity?

During tonight’s broadcast someone asked me if the year has gone quickly or if it feels like it’s been a year since I began the Justopia Cooks broadcast and as I took a moment to reflect I thought the answer was really both

Twitter and the News and Tomorrow is an Auspicious Day!!

Current Events

MissouriMatt came through with help and taught me how to style the plate

As some of you have seen, CNN has become enamored with Twitter, the microblogging web app in which you post messages up to 140 characters long to a list of followers. I returned home after work, put my things down, washed up, sat down and turned on the TV to see what’s been going on in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike.

KeyIngredient.com September Contest Recipe

Peach-Apple Chutney Surprise

A little more than a week ago after I submitted my entry for the Whole Foods Budget Recipe Challenge, I mentioned that I’d been invited to submit a recipe to KeyIngredient.com for the September Key Ingredient Cook’s Kitchen (KICK) contest.

We Partied and I Received My Card

The Job Has it’s Perks

We paired my hot pepper jelly with cream cheese to put on crackers or bread

We had a party at my house last night to sample the new Williams-Sonoma drink mixes. There are 6 of them and one of our colleagues was a bar tender in a previous life, so she planted herself in the kitchen and mixed up the drinks while we devoured appetizers and had a good time.

Stir Fried Beef and Soba Noodles

DEEliciousness!

A DEElicious Asian meal!

It was a strange day. The weather was wet and windy as Hannah blew through on her trek north. I walked to the store as the rain started to whip up and was pretty wet by the time I arrived at the store 5 minutes later. My ran jacket doesn’t do much to keep the water off of me, but I didn’t mind

Another Photo Post

Heaven on a Plate

I’m beginning to think this might be a good title for a bakery company or a restaurant. And really, I’m not exaggerating, this dinner and the chocolate cheesecake were heavenly! It was another quiet night on Justin.tv and Justopia.com, but we had a great dinner anyway.

Mediterranean Potato, Tomato and Egg Salad

I first had this salad when I lived in the Philippines. We found an Italian restaurant the while scary to sit in with cockroaches roaming the food and tables, was acceptable for lunch. I always ordered the meatball sub and this salad. It was a great combo and I learned to either swat the roaches away or to ignore them, because in a tropical climate in the developing world, they are just part of the scenery.

GREAT JTV Viewing this Afternoon with Jamie Oliver

Worthwhile Viewing

Chicken Parmesan and Orichetti with Pesto

It’s been many months since I’ve been excited about anything that’s been broadcast on Justin.tv. This afternoon there was a broadcast that was made just for me. I was at the movies this afternoon and when I got home and checked in on Twitter, I saw a message from twitter.com/Justintv noting a broadcast with Jamie Oliver at Justin.tv/ministryoffood. I immediately hit the link and the broadcast was long over, but the JTV archives were working just fine, so I sat back and watched.

I’m a Winner! and Go Ahead and Drool, it’s OK :)

I’m a Winner!

I received mail a few hours ago from Betsy at Whole Foods. She wanted to let me know that I was one of the first 100 bloggers to submit their entry to the Whole Foods Budget Recipe Challenge and that as a result I would be receiving a gift certificate! According to the contest guidelines it will be a $25 certificate which is very cool and takes care of the cost of the ingredients for my entry.

JTV and Justopia Milestones with Pie Pictures

Again

I am prompted to write about JTV and the announcement of all time high viewer counts — again. I worked late tonight, so there was no cooking and no food photos. Instead, let’s chat about the 101,000 simultaneous viewers on JTV. This is the blog post that communicated the milestone. What I found most interesting were some of the comments. There are complaints of a sluggish network and comments about how the removal of the Channel Bar is the sole reason for the spike in viewership.
