Touching Base

With the hurricane bearing down on the Texas coast, the Navigator's Monument in Lisbon seemed appropriate

I’ve had to close the store the past couple of nights and have been busy prior to heading to work so I have not been able to publish a blog post. This is very unusual for me. This is only the 3rd or 4th time I haven’t published a post for 3 – 4 days ever in the 15 months since I launched the blog and I’m feeling rather guilty, but I don’t want to babble on about nothing.

Heaven on a Plate

I’m beginning to think this might be a good title for a bakery company or a restaurant. And really, I’m not exaggerating, this dinner and the chocolate cheesecake were heavenly! It was another quiet night on and, but we had a great dinner anyway.

Mediterranean Potato, Tomato and Egg Salad

I first had this salad when I lived in the Philippines. We found an Italian restaurant the while scary to sit in with cockroaches roaming the food and tables, was acceptable for lunch. I always ordered the meatball sub and this salad. It was a great combo and I learned to either swat the roaches away or to ignore them, because in a tropical climate in the developing world, they are just part of the scenery.

Info and a Couple of Recipes

Viewer Count Info

Long after I finished broadcasting my playlists were showing on the JTV home page

We’ve talked about this before, but after seeing a blurb on a blog about “faked viewer counts” I thought it was worth another visit.

So, it goes like this — there are rooms with lots of viewers at one time. Most of the rooms with very large viewer counts are those broadcasting professional sports or first run movies or something you wouldn’t want your child watching, but on those occasions when a broadcaster is put into the Featured box on the welcome screen the viewer count can go very high.

Empanadas Everywhere and a Corn Dog for Dinner, Surely You Jest.

Yes! You know it. I am competitive and a teeeny, weeeny bit obsessive. Yes, I admit it. I admit it all the time. So when I was lounging around this afternoon, thinking about getting ready to go out for dinner with a friend (Wendy), I headed over for my daily visits to one of my favorite blogs — From Argentina With Love — and at the end of today’s post was a reminder for Empanada of the Month entries. I remembered reading about this challenge last month, and when I saw the reminder I thought … wow! I have a couple of packages of wonton wrappers in the fridge that I need to do something with and how opportune the announcement was. So I thought I’d run into the kitchen and whip up another batch of Frannie’s Dulce Dumplings. I was racing the clock because I still needed to shower and get dressed and get out of the house in 90 minutes, but always up for a food challenge, I got myself into the kitchen and started to work some sinfully sweet magic.
