I was in a room last night and someone came running in to say that Justin.tv was on CNN Headline News. When we asked what the piece was about, we were told that it was about Rick Astley and about Getting Rick Rolled on JTV and that “they said it was rude.”

Ah ha! That raised a red flag. I decided I needed to tune into CNN to find out for myself what this was all about. Could it be that the network was getting national media attention attention again and not for broadcasting pro sports and other network programming, but for something as benign as the Rick Roll?

Well, I wasn’t about to let this supposed gem of a highlight about JTV slip past me. You know me better than that! I headed right to channel 37 and started watching. I watched, and I watched and I watched until finally there it was. As expected, the piece was not long. It was just a blurb on a show called Not Just Another Cable News Show. But there was no mention of JTV. Nope, this was a piece about the Rick Astley phenomena and being Rick Rolled.

There was no mention of it being rude. It wasn’t a hard news piece. It was a bit on the weekend News to Me show and they talked about how YouTube hijacked their front page on April 1st and put a link to the Rick Astley video under all of the featured videos that day as an April Fool’s Day joke. There was NO mention of JTV. Not a single letter. Not a J or a T or a V. JTV was absent in the story.

The story was titled Cruel Trick. So there you have it. I tuned in to watch a story on JTV and I was Rick Rolled because throughout the piece, Rick Astley was singing and dancing — a 42 inch plasma Rick Roll for Justy! LOL
