I finally resolved the issue I was having with my television remote and was able to watch television again today and try to catch up on some of the shows I have recorded in the past few months. One of those shows is the AMC offering that ran this summer called Mad Men. I love the show and know that I am going to be disappointed when I reach the end of the season. I don’t think the show garnered a lot of viewers. I’ve never tuned into the network in the past, but now I will put it on my radar and wait for more great programming from them.

Anyway, in the episode I was watching this morning there was dialog about the word Utopia. One of the characters said that she was taught in school that the word is of Greek origin and that Utopos means the good place and Útopos means the place that can not be. This made me stop and think about Justopia. Is this the good place or the place that can not be? I think on some days it is the good place, while on days of technical difficulties it is the place that can not be. I don’t want to jinx things, but launching with the debug tool has been a real lifesaver in terms of being able to launch the broadcast without issue. At times it does buffer or lose audio or video, but relaunching the cast has worked. I will cross my fingers that it continues.

Where Are They Now?

I stumbled upon a channel of a JTV viewer that was around at the beginning — Sudel.  He had disappeared off the face of the earth for many months, but appears to be back in chat recently and now he is broadcasting.  I will have to check in when he is live to see what THE Sudel is like in real life.  It’s interesting how people disappear for a while and come back with a channel.  And it’s hard to believe that it was just 7 months ago that this all launched.  It feels like a lifetime.

I do miss the gang though — Justin, Michael, Emmett, Kyle and Jacob — oh and Norah and Yiou.  Time passes, things change and I am ok with that, but it was more fun when we could peek in at their daily lives.

Justopia.com

I have noted on my channel page that I am launching a new site on Tuesday evening at 9pm — Justopia.com will be a wonderful enhancement to what you currently see on my JTV channel each night. We’ll have trivia challenges with Justopia care packages for the winners and split screen guest hosting and more. In order to get the site up and running on schedule, I am going to need to take some of my blogging time to work on the tasks I have on my list to complete before Tuesday. I have not been paying as much attention to what’s going on in the channels recently so the blog has been a bit light, but if you have not been reading since the beginning, we are up to blog post #185 tonight, so I’d recommend you go back in the archives for some informational reading. Looking back on the blog, it looks like a historical biography of a lifecasting start-up and you can see the evolution of JTV spelled out in chronological order. This little journal of mine is quite detailed — to say the least.

My Hero

I am into the District tomorrow night to hear Anthony Bourdain speak and I am very excited about it.  The only problem is the issue of transportation.  I was planning to take the metro.  It’s so easy, inexpensive and lets me out just a few blocks from the auditorium, but in the past few days a number of women have been assaulted at metro stops on the line I would need to take to my destination.  That means I am going to have to drive in.  I don’t mind the drive — it’s the parking that is the really bad thing for me.  I am the person you want to stay away from in a parking lot.  I don’t know if it’s the astigmatisms I have in both eyes or just a general problem with depth perception, but I have a long history of either parking at horrific angles or banging into columns.  The garages in the city in the area I am heading to are just horrible.  They are old and always under construction with come part or another blocked off.

As you can read, I am already worked up about it and really have no option but to drive in, but I am looking forward to a fun evening.
