Celebration or Cause for Concern and Black Friday

I hope everyone had a happy and restful Thanksgiving.  Now … let the shopping begin!

Milestone

Today marks the 200th post to Living the Justopian Life. While it’s very gratifying in some sense, it is extremely disturbing in another.

Since April 27th, I have posted every day with less than a handful of exceptions. That means that I have published a post for almost every one of the 209 days since I started this crazy viewing, participating and writing adventure in my Justin.tv life. I have not calculated the entire word count, but looking at just May is filled with over 28,000 words and in total, the blog has over 800 photos posted to it. Now that is a lot of words and photos and images. But with an estimate of 190,000 words to date, it is a far cry from War and Peace which weighs in at 560,000 words and 1456 pages. With the epic novel averaging 110,000 words, Living the Justopian Life really does seem to be larger than epic and without photos, the book would be about 800 pages at this moment.

And this is where the concern comes in. How much of my life have I lost spending days and nights following JTV and the people broadcasting? If I had not been here for over 200 days, what would my life look like right now? Would I be gainfully employed? Would I look less pasty? Would I have more of a sparkle in my eyes? Would I have something to talk about with my friends other than Justin this and Justin that?

The question is: at what point do I stop? Channels on JTV are quickly losing their luster. It is beyond boring tonight. I have tried to find something of interest, but it just isn’t happening, so I watched a few episodes of television shows I had recorded and worked on trivia questions for the broadcast and did some other research.

I am hoping to find some good inspiration that will kick-start me into writing thought-provoking and interesting posts again. It’s been a bit tough since the JTV network opened to the general public.

Let the Shopping Begin

Tomorrow is the day I’ve been dreading. I can not begin to imagine what the store and the shopping center will be like when I get there for work tomorrow afternoon. I will keep my eye on it from my balcony before I head over, but I can guarantee tomorrow won’t be one of those stress-free days for me. I just hope I can hold up to it. I’d love to take my camera in and shoot some video. Now THAT would be good JTV viewing!

In the meantime, I will try to put on my best smile and go with the flow. Maybe — just maybe if I can make it through tomorrow, I can make it all the way to the end of the season. It remains to be seen!

But for now, I am going to do something novel — get to bed before 1:30am!!!!!!!!!! It has been many months and I am in great need of a good night’s sleep.

  1. Hi Justopia!

It has been a long time since I checked out your blog, I have been so busy with school.

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! I see you did not write a segment about food…; well you haven’t been writing about food in the last few posts… 😦 Why is that Justopia? Anyways I hope you had a great meal with friends and family, and I hope your Turkey tasted fantastic if you had one 🙂 .

As for JTV, I have noticed my visits there are becoming less frequent. The feel for the old JTV , which was once the feeling of one big community with online friends and family has all been dissipated. Now it is replaced with the feeling of a high school popularity contest, filled with gossips and social hierarchy. I have a feeling that I will soon no longer be visiting JTV…

I hope you have a good day! After I finish writing this comment I am heading out the door to join the frenzy that is associated with Black Friday. I told splat that I hope I don’t get trampled, so I am crossing my fingers, it can be a crazy world out there. I hope Black Friday won’t be such a fuss for you Justopia, but I know that there is a good likelihood of being crazy with all the sales going on…

    Good Luck at work Justopia.

  2. Hi Odd,

I’ve continued to cook each night but have not posted much in the food realm in the way of photos or recipes since Monday’s roast chicken episode. Work is taking a bite out of me, so I am trying to balance my time between work, broadcasting, blogging and doing things I need to get done for justopia.com and the blog is suffering but thankfully, the holiday season has just another month to go, so it should be short-lived. Unless, of course I throw in the towel.

I’d mentioned that I was going to be going to a friend’s house for Thanksgiving, so there was nothing to write about in terms of food last night. The launch of Justopia.com was the big turkey extravaganza and luckily the highlight is up and running for those that needed help for the holiday. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you make it through Black Friday unscathed. I, for one, don’t “get it,” but suppose I am in the minority.

  3. Oh… that sounds very busy Justopia. I can imagine how the holiday season is very busy for work you. I was just back from shopping at 4:00am in the morning for black friday and I must say that it was very hectic. I can compare this shopping experience as almost being in a war zone, with televisons, carts, and even people being swung in a motley of directions, not really caring for the person next to them. Items were fallling off the shelves, with people also discarding their junks on the floor after finding out that they did not want the item with which they were fighting for. Speaking of televisions… I wonder how an old fragile looking lady can pick up a 50 inch LCD television…>_> Well, there is not much to say, since I walked away with only three items, a set of headphones, a flash drive, and video game for a present….

I am glad you went to a friends house for turkey 🙂 . That means that you had less work to do and also get to enjoy a meal that was prepared for you and others. I hope you had fun enjoying the dishes and time with your friend. I find that I often enjoy eating other people’s food more than my own, probably because I like to guess what they created their pieces with, I hope it is the same for you 🙂 .

Wow, you have a website now?! I really need to catch up on reading your blog, I just checked it out and it is a Justopia haven, with a video of you autoplaying as I entered the site. The concentration of the archives (or episodes as it seems) looks to be about food, which is my favorite! OH MY GOODNESS! I have to register later… I am so tired from shopping and writing this essay here.

Sorry to bother you I am just very anxious lol

  4. Hi Justopia, I hope you will continue with your blog if you decide to can the JTV viewing. I agree that JTV is not too great. There are only a few channels worth checking out. BUT…I am sure you would have alot to blog about other than JTV. Now that I am catching up with reading your blog, I would hate to see it go.

  5. Yes Oddnumber,

We launched the site a few weeks ago and it’s got a lot of features that JTV does not. One of which people have been asking for for a very long time — Private Messaging. We have trivia challenges and you can set up your screen as you wish and save it and more. It takes some people some doing to get signed up, but if you have been around JTV for a while, it may just be 2nd hat.

    Come join us.

  6. Sumdance,

I don’t plan to stop blogging really. I just need a jolt to get me feeling creative about writing about JTV again. Writing is my love so I don’t want to stop — I just want to give it life again — it’s been feeling kind of bland. I don’t want people to be bored when reading it.

I think a lot of this is the fact that I don’t get to sit around viewing and observing like I used to with work and with the broadcast … I just need to get my time better organized. This is like a job that you don’t get paid for. 🙂
