Another Tidal Wave of Defections?

TylerPeel sent me these photos of his Greek Lasagne creation. He made me very hungry with these!
I took a look at the recent bulletins I received on my JTV account after I got home from work today. I needed something mindless to do. My brain has been overwhelmed with training materials and in an effort for it not to explode I thought it best to think about something that truly needs no brainpower. Bulletins fit that description perfectly.

Crazy Cats

I guess the pasta was hot enough — can you see the steam coming off of it to the left?
I was excited at the prospect of upgrading from Tiger to Leopard on my not-so-pretty-anymore MacBook. I headed for the Apple store ready to make the leap. I had considered giving up the Mac way of life and purchasing a Windows machine, but if I’ve learned one thing during the past year-plus hanging around JTV and meeting people that are far more experienced and knowledgeable about computers and purchasing them than I am, it’s not to make an impulse buy on something like a computer. I hope that I don’t just drop into a store and purchase a new machine on a whim again. I also know that I should not be making that kind of a purchase right now . It would be an emotional purchase and I’ve done enough of that over the past dozen or so years to know it was time to stop. Oh yeah, and circumstances have played a big role in stopping that behavior too.

5th of May

I’ve read that more Cinco de Mayo celebrating is done in the US than in Mexico, so I thought it my American duty to keep those statistics alive and I prepared a feast. It was a great menu, but required some time in the kitchen so I got started early.

Routine

Landing in Minneapolis
I clicked my heels three times and woke up at home in my own bed last night. Without missing a beat, when I got home late last night I unpacked my bags and put everything away. What I’d like to do when I return home from a trip is to leave it all in the bags and sit back and relax, but I know that if I did that the bags would become permanent fixtures in my bedroom and I don’t want that, so I get right to it.
Tomorrow I’ll be back to my “normal” broadcasting and blogging, although I’m not sure what there will be about JTV to write about. Things seem to get more and more boring each week. I wish I were into sports or gaming, it would make the network so much more interesting. Apparently, it was interesting to over 30,000 people this afternoon. I am not sure what they were watching, I didn’t bother to go into IRC to analyze it, but from a cursory look, it seemed there was a lot going on in the world of sports.

What Rain?

We made it to the very end of the tulip festival and not a drop of rain during the trip. The tulips were beautiful and in contrast to yesterday, I didn’t go with Tiny Tim hair today.

Blue Skies

Tell people you are going to Seattle, Washington and they will either warn you about the rain or tsk tsk, like they pity you because of the bad weather they are sure you will encounter. I have been here 4 times and have yet to experience rain. I should probably not jinx things, but so far, it’s been pretty spectacular out. The weather is cool, but that is just how I prefer it and while some dark clouds have passed by in the past two days, nothing has come out of the sky. I thought that perhaps I’ve always been lucky because I seemed to come here in September, but I’m here at the end of April, so that theory has been shot to hell, and I am not unhappy about that.

Go West Not-So -Young Woman

Well, I made it. I arrived safely in Seattle this afternoon to a beautiful May afternoon. I took a familiar route, one that I took countless times when I was living in the Philippines. Part of me wished I was making the full trip, and part of me, the part that was my legs dangling down without a comfortable leg rest to prop them on was very happy the trip was a whole lot less than 8 hours to get to my destination.

More Yesterday Than Today

The beautiful sunset season is upon us in the DC area
I was reading the comments (all 2 of them) from Saturday’s blog post this morning when a Philippine memory related to Auntie Anne’s hit me. I’d think the memory would have been sparked when I was making or eating the pretzels Saturday afternoon. Oh well, who knows what makes the brain work the way it does.

Auntie Frannie’s Pretzels?

Home Made Pretzels
There’s nothing like a hot pretzel, is there? Tonight is not a broadcast night, no Justopia.com or Justin.tv for me, but I couldn’t resist shooting a few shots of these DEElicious pretzels I made for a snack when I got home from work this afternoon. It’s a yeast dough that you do have to let rise for an hour, but mixing it up and kneading it is not difficult if you use the dough hook of your stand mixer.

News Flash!
It appears that I am not the only one that does not like the new Bulletin Feature that was launched this afternoon on JTV. I am happy with the ability to block people from sending highlights to YouTube, but the bulletins are just plain annoying. It’s SPAM, plain and simple. I have yet to see anything of relevance or interest in the dozens of bulletins that have been cluttering my inbox since it launched this evening and from what I see, no one else is thrilled with the new feature either. Well, that’s not true, one person was happy:
I don’t care for MySpace and Facebook has become a cluttered application playground for adults so I don’t spend much time in there either. I am not looking forward to JTV becoming just another disjointed, unorganized place for people to post useless information.

Blog

Chicken Milanese, Risotto with Mushrooms and Bacon (alas, no Pancetta in the fridge) and steamed broccoli with toasted almonds
I like to check in on the JTV blog on a regular basis. It’s a helpful place to keep up to date with information about the product, the company or individuals. When I checked in this morning, before heading to work I saw a new article posted by Michael. The title; Community Director? caught my attention. I’ve been pitching this idea in my own offhand, wordy, to the point Jusotpian blogger way for months. Well, for a year really, and am so happy to see that the company has grown to the point where a Community Director position is being discussed.

A Battlefield Away

We didn’t take time to get out of the car and shoot photos on this trip, so what I got was all just “drive-by”
You’re never too far from a battlefield when you head out on the road in the Washington, DC metro area. That was what we did today. Late last night my friend and I decided that we would finally see sunlight and have beautiful temperatures and that it was finally time to take that drive we have been talking about. So, we headed out from Leesburg at 10am and took a leisurely drive south to Fredricksburg, Virginia. We needed to stop in at a motorcycle shop so that he could look for an accessory he needed and Fredricksburg was where we needed to go.

The Secret

A cupcake for my niece’s birthday
It’s clear now that not disclosing my dirty little Justopian Life secret is having a negative impact on my life. How, you might ask? It’s simple really. I follow a few food blogs. As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, my sister - yes, the one that came to stay with me this weekend and who still, like most of my in real life (IRL) friends and family knows nothing about the Justopian life. She is responsible for turning me onto and getting me hooked on food blogs. As a result I have found countless recipes, read many informative entries and laughed hard at others that were filled with side-splitting humor. And in the midst of blog surfing I’ve seen more than a few contests. I’ve never really felt compelled to enter one of these contests, but my sister has and she recently won a cookbook penned by the FoodNetwork’s Elie Krieger.

Weekend Guests

It was another Indian feast and this time we made home made Samosas. DEElicious!
It was a great weekend, but I am exhausted! We cooked and we ate and we cleaned up and we cooked some more and then we went to the supermarket and we cooked and we ate and … well, you get the picture.
